Automatic reminders in practice
Automatic reminders are messages the system sends on its own, a set time in advance, to remind someone of a commitment: a check-up, a haircut, a consultation, an order pickup. They are built from your calendar data, so you don't have to write them or remember to send them.
For anyone who works by appointment they are among the most useful tools: a client who forgets leaves a gap in your diary that is hard to fill at the last minute. A reminder that lets clients confirm or reschedule tells you in advance who is coming and gives you time to offer the free slot to someone else.
One example is the appointment reminder system we built as a sample project: it sends one message 24 hours before and one 2 hours before, by email or text; the client confirms or asks to reschedule, and you get a summary every day. For it to work, your calendar must always be up to date, ideally through calendar sync.
A few practical tips: don't overdo the number of messages, one or two are enough. Keep the text short, with date, time, address and an easy way to cancel. Collect the client's consent when they book and handle their contact details in line with the GDPR. If you use WhatsApp, check the platform's rules on automated messages.
