Custom software

Custom software is a program designed around the processes of a specific business, instead of bending the work to fit an off-the-shelf product.

Custom software in practice

Custom software is a program built around the way you work: your steps, your documents, your permissions. It does not start from a generic product to configure, but from an analysis of how the work is done today and where time is lost.

It makes sense when standard programs force you into awkward workarounds: data copied between three tools, Excel sheets on the side, features you pay for and never use while the one you need is missing. With custom software the data is yours, the rules are yours and you can grow it one piece at a time.

An example: an engineering firm prepares quotes by combining price-list items, discounts and delivery times that differ for each client. A generic SaaS product cannot handle those rules; a dedicated tool applies them automatically and produces a PDF ready to send. In our portfolio you will find an example quote tool of this kind.

Do not start from a list of everything you would like: start from the problem that costs you most and build an MVP first, to use straight away and improve. Ask who will own the code and the data, how updates and support will be handled, and whether the software can connect to the tools you already use.
